Holston Medical Group (Kingsport, TN) and OnePartner (Duffield, VA) are pleased to announce that respected internal medicine physician and research clinician, David Morin, MD, RPh, FACP, CPI, will lead both organization's extensive clinical research efforts.
As a national leader in electronic health information utilization, Holston Medical Group has also garnered national notoriety for excellence in clinical research. To date, HMG has conducted more than 1,400 clinical research studies for leading pharmaceutical partners such as Merck, Hoffman LaRoche, Pfizer and Glaxo-Smith-Kline.
"Our efforts are extensive indeed, as are our aspirations," explains HMG Founder & President Jerry L. Miller, MD. "With a quest for excellence and a desire to develop new methods aimed toward enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of technology based research systems, Holston Medical Group is pleased to have acquired the leadership of Dr. David Morin."
Morin, board certified by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, comes to HMG with more than 25 years of medical experience, much of that devoted to clinical research. The recipient of numerous awards and honors, including receiving a Distinguished Investigator Award in 2002, Dr. Morin is known for his clinical research expertise in areas ranging from arthritis and depression to obesity, sleep disorders and gastroenterology.
Dr. Morin received a bachelor's of science degree from the University of Rhode Island and a doctorate of medicine from the University of Vermont, Burlington, Vt. He completed an internal medicine internship and residency training through the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville. He's currently enrolled in the Master of Medical Informatics (MMI) program at Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill.
"Our goal is to leverage both technology and clinical research in forging whole new relationships with research sites and sponsors," explains Tom Deaderick, the director of OnePartner and the creator of OnePartner Research. "In creating OnePartner Research, we had a lot of essential elements - a large number of studies, strong relationships with sponsors, some of the most impressive technology in the nation, and a strong internal team. Now, with the addition of Dr. Morin, we have the dedicated, research clinician leadership needed to now launch what will become one of the nation's most innovative clinical research organizations. His gift for communicating complex concepts and his determination are a perfect match for OnePartner Research."
A new venture, OnePartner Research is a novel clinical research organization comprised of dozens of independent clinics all working collaboratively to improve study design and selection efficiencies. Nationally, HMG will serve as the model for OnePartner Research - a novel Site Management Organization (novel-SMO™) using the Group's expertise in information technology toward developing a network of high quality electronic medical record (EMR) based research practices across the United States.
In his role as director, Dr. Morin will support all aspects of clinical research for both HMG Clinical Research and OnePartner Research, including interpreting and applying regulatory guidelines, and serving as a resource for investigators, coordinators and administrative personnel. Additionally, he'll oversee clinical research subject recruitment, quality assurance, training and sponsor/public relations.
