Dr. Scott Fowler to speak about the value of health IT at HIMSS

HMG President Dr. Scott Fowler brings his take on the value of health IT to the 2015 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition in Chicago, April 12-16, 2015. Dr. Scott Fowler will present "Technology Drives Quantifiable Shared Savings Success" on Wednesday, April 15, 2014 at 2:30pm - 3:30pm. More than 38,000 healthcare industry professionals are expected at the conference, where they will learn about and discuss health IT issues, and view industry solutions.

During his presentation, Dr. Scott Fowler will analyze the strategies and steps undertaken by Holston Medical Group to transition to a value-based care model and achieve success with shared saving payer initiatives. Holston Medical Group, relying on innovative HIE and analytics strategies, founded an ACO and achieved remarkable results. Within 18 months, HMG realized double-digit reduction in readmissions rates and saved about $2,000 per patient across a population of 5,000 Medicare shared savings members, adding millions to its bottom line.

Proposals under review by the Annual Conference Education Committee have gone through a peer-review selection process for enhanced efficiency and quality in selection of the educational offerings at the conference. The HIMSS Annual Conference Education Committee evaluates and selects all candidates with those representing an organization or non-commercial interest given preference, a guideline followed to achieve Continuing Medical Education or CME requirements.

The HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition ranks as one of the largest health IT gatherings in the world, with more than 300 peer-reviewed education sessions, a 467,000 square-foot exhibit floor and numerous networking events.
